Opposing Hydraulic Cylinders
The purpose of this project was to display the power, precision, and resolution achievable through the digitized control of hydraulic systems. This system can be configured in one of three ways.
Planar Independent Configuration
In this configeration, the cylinders travel on a single axis and are controlled independently. Placing an egg in between each cylinder displays the accuracy of the control.
Planar Jointed Configuration
In this configeration, the cylinders travel on a single axis and are controlled independently. However, the cylinders are locked mechanically./ One cylinder can be set as a vibrative force and the other as a reactionary dampening force. This config. demonstrates the power of the controller.


Pivoting Joint Configuration
In this configuration, the cylinders travel on a dual axis and are controlled binarily. This allows for a planar control of the end effector and can be used for work holding, probing, material dispensing, etc. This configeration displays the accuracy and rigidity of the system.
